Walking in Osaka is a card-drafting and tableau-building game for multiple players. Players take on the role of traveler Fanny, exploring medieval Osaka in 1620 during the Tokugawa shogunate’s rebuilding of the castle fortifications. As she strolls through bustling streets, she discovers how different districts supported one another and creates a vivid panorama for her photobook.
The game is played over 10 rounds, with each round allowing players to draft cards, move pawns, and score points.
Each player’s turn consists of:
Travel Phase – Move the pawn around the outskirts of the city. Check if the Location Tile’s requirements are met. Players may spend Sandal Tokens for extra movement or bonuses.
Sightseeing Phase – Choose a Town Card from the row or column where the pawn is located and place it into the Photobook to form a panoramic view of Osaka. Check the Location Tile’s requirements again.
Replenishing and Scoring Phase – If a row or column in the Town Area is empty, refill it from the deck. Move the Shogunate pawn and score points from your Photobook.
Players score points through Town Card layouts, building collections, and special bonuses. After 10 rounds, the player with the most points wins.
