Tayog is an abstract strategy board game for two opposing players who control bird pieces namely Manok, Bibe, Lawin, and Agila in an 8x8 checker board, competing for being the first player to successfully do one of any of the following objectives: Capture all of their opponents exposed Manok pieces, have at least eight Manok pieces in their reserve during their turn, or make their opponent unable to do any valid move during their turn.

After the setting up phase, players alternatingly take turns choosing to either Rally, Perch or Capture to try to achieve any of the aforementioned goals. Rally means to either place a Manok at an empty spot adjacent to another Manok or stack a non-Manok piece from the reserve on top of an exposed allied piece exactly one rank lower. Perch simply means to move a Manok piece to an adjacent empty square or a non-Manok piece using its valid directional movement on top of another allied piece that is one rank lower. Lastly, to Capture is to take an opponents piece of the same rank or one rank lower by occupying the space it was originally on and effectively taking all the pieces underneath it, flipping it and keeping it as a reserve so that it can be used as a piece to be Rallied later in the game.

Manok or chicken is the lowest ranked piece in the game and can only move to any of its eight adjacent squares. Bibe or duck is a rank higher above the Manok and can move as many spaces as it wants horizontally and vertically as long as there is a Bibe or Manok to capture and perch on to. One rank higher is the Lawin or Hawk, and it can move as many spaces diagonally and similarly can only perch or capture a Lawin or Bibe. The highest piece which is an Agila or Eagle can move as many spaces horizontally, vertically, and diagonally but can only capture an Agila or a Hawk.

Additionally, players may not move a piece they have just used and must put an Exhaustion Marker on top of it after every turn. The said piece may still be Perched, Captured, or Rallied by another piece since only the bird piece used cannot be moved on two consecutive turns. Lastly, non-Manok pieces may not pass through an opponents piece if its rank is higher but may do so over their allied pieces.
