Tanbo is a two-player abstract strategy game set in the rice paddies of Niigata Prefecture, Japan. As you embrace a life closer to nature, you begin cultivating rice in a land where snakes are sacred creatures believed to nurture the harvest. The more snakes that appear, the richer your fields become, yet controlling their numbers is essential, or your paddies will spiral out of control.
The game unfolds as players plan their moves, distribute actions across the board, and manage the balance between growth and danger. Snakes can bring abundance, but mishandling them may disrupt your entire field. Your goal is simple: harvest as much rice as possible without getting overwhelmed or bitten.
A round continues with players taking strategic actions to influence their paddies, expand their opportunities, and secure valuable harvest positions. The tension grows as snakes multiply, forcing careful judgment to reap rewards without losing control.
At the end of the game, the farmer with the most rice claims victory, proving mastery over both nature and the snakes that dwell within the fields.
